DES MOINES BIERGARTEN

Willkommen im Des Moines Biergarten! Set among the mature trees of Water Works Park, Des Moines Biergarten is a family-friendly popup German-themed beer garden offering steins of beer and German inspired eats.

We're open Wednesday through Sunday every week late Spring through to Fall.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Get a flavor of Bavaria in Des Moines! Since the 19th century, biergartens have been a staple of Munich. Traditionally, steins of beer have been enjoyed on picnic tables shaded by trees. The Des Moines Biergarten brings that German experience to central Iowa thanks to a partnership with Water Works Park. We offer local and German brews, German-inspired street food like hotdogs and pretzels, live music and yard games. A portion of the revenue generated from the Biergarten is donated to the Water Works Park Foundation.

WHERE TO FIND US

Every Wednesday to Sunday May-October, you can find us east of the Lauridsen Amphitheater under the tree canopy in Water Works Park. We're just off the bike trail and there's plenty of parking to the south. Restrooms and a natural playscape for kids are also nearby.

Opening times:

  • Wednesday: 3pm - 9pm
  • Thursday: 3pm - 9pm
  • Friday: 11am - 9pm
  • Saturday: 11am - 9pm
  • Sunday: 11am - 9pm
